IFS

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy views the mind as made up of different parts, like a family inside of you. We all have different parts of ourselves that sometimes have conflicting emotions, desires, or reactions. In IFS, the goal is to understand these parts, get to know them, and work with them in a compassionate way. At the center of this is something called the "Self," which is the wise, calm, and grounded you. The idea is that when you're connected to your Self, you can help heal the parts of you that might be in pain, stuck, or feeling overwhelmed.

Rather than trying to get rid of any part of you, IFS helps you listen to and work with these parts so that they can feel understood and integrated. This helps us explore the various aspects of your inner world that react to stressors, whether through overthinking, emotional numbness, or compulsive behaviors.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people heal from trauma or distressing memories. It works by having you think about a difficult memory while moving your eyes back and forth, often following the therapist’s hand or another moving object. This process helps your brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional impact, allowing you to feel less overwhelmed by it over time. It’s commonly used for people with complex trauma or anxiety related to past experiences. EMDR complements IFS by addressing how your body holds onto past traumas and unresolved emotions. Through this somatic-focused therapy, we work to release these physical and emotional tensions, allowing for a deeper and more integrated healing experience.
